Forum software upgrade evaluation

Hello fellow players and botters,

in order to improve the usability here, I plan to upgrade the forum software.
The new software brings syntax highlighting for code snippets, improved notifications, user mentions and many other improvements.

I am announcing this change in advance to give everyone the oportunity to examine the new version and check whether the change would bring any issues.
I have set up a site with an upgraded version of the forum for testing. There you find copies of our user accounts, topics and posts.

To log in to your accounts copy over there, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the site http://upgrade.demo.forum.botengine.de
  • Click the “Log In” button on the upper right on the site.
  • In the “Log In” window, click “I forgot my password”
  • In the “Password Reset” window, enter your username (The email does not seem to work) and click “Reset Password”.
  • Then the site should display the message containing the text “, you should receive an email with instructions on how to reset your password shortly.” and you then will receive an email with instructions to set a new password on the demo site.
  • With the new password you can login and post as usual.

Note that information you enter on the demo site will probably not be kept permanent. The demo site might be reset sometimes to test newer version of the migration process.

At the moment, I do not plan to migrate private messages, however you can continue to use private messages on the new version.

Hello!

I stuck on this step:

  • You then will receive an email with instructions to set a new password on the demo site

I dont received any mails. And i cheked “spam” folder.

Thanks for the report, I am working on fixing the email sending.

Ok, I fixed the email sending for now. I will check later to see if it degrades again.

I think this week I will do another reset and again import the old data since I want to try to add import of tags and likes.

Right, the last transfer was a few days ago. If we do not find anything that should be fixed before, I estimate it will go live in the next two weeks.

Hello,

today I added some features to the importing software. Now tags and upvotes are transfered too. I did a new transfer with todays state of the forum.

I think that these were the last features added to the import. The new forum will go live very soon!
